Management at General Dynamics focuses on maintaining the trust and
confidence of four groups: our shareholders, our customers, our employees, and
our communities. We define our communities broadly, to include the local
communities where our products and services are designed, manufactured and
operated as well as the larger community encompassing the world environment.
Sustainability means balancing our commitment to all four groups so that our
company can continue the growth we have experienced since our founding in 1952.
For our
SHAREHOLDERS,
the focus is on financial results. At our core, we are in business to earn a
fair return for our shareholders. In doing so we must utilize our company’s
assets wisely and deliver on our promises to our customers, our employees and
the communities in which we operate. We disclose publicly our quarterly and
annual financial results in our filings with the Securities and Exchange
Commission (SEC). We will provide a summary of our financial results here, and
we provide links to our SEC filings in the Investor Relations section of our
website.
We maintain strong relationships with our defense, commercial, and Gulfstream
business-jet aircraft
CUSTOMERS.
Our customers include those who purchase and manage our products and services as
well as the men and women who use them in the field. Because a significant
portion of our business is defense related we have included a section in this
report on some of our initiatives that support our nation’s armed forces.
Our
EMPLOYEES
are key to our success, and our ability to design, manufacture, and support the
products our customers need. Our programs to attract, support, and retain these
employees are discussed in this website.
Supporting our
COMMUNITIES
has always been important to General Dynamics. The initiatives we have to
support our communities are widespread and diverse, and too voluminous to
completely capture across our business units. This Sustainability website
highlights a cross section of these initiatives as examples of the support we
provide to our communities around the world.
In this website we have addressed our efforts to preserve and protect the trust
and confidence of these groups. We have included metrics where they are relevant
and meaningful from a corporate perspective, and not competition sensitive. In
some cases, particularly employee benefits and local community support, we give
our business units the latitude to tailor their programs and support to the
specific needs of their employees and local communities. In this website we
provide representative examples of these benefits and support from across our
company.
